Non-stick Frying Pans

To prevent food sticking to the bottom of your frying pans, a non-stick pan may be just right for you! Non-stick frying pans are coated in a substance such as polytetrafluoroetheylene (PTFE), this substance can only be applied to pans that are made out of steal or aluminium and are used to minimize food sticking to the pan surface.

Advantages of non-stick pans is that they are much easier to clear rather than most normal pans and you only need a little or no additional fat or oil to prevent your food from sticking to the bottom. However, disadvantages of non-stick pans is that some cooking needs the food to stick to the pan a little to cause sucs to form, this means a non-stick pan cannot be used when a pan sauce is desired. Another disadvantage is that the PTFE coating tends to degrade over time, to preserve the coating, it is important to never overheat a non-stick pan.
