Hand building is a type of clay moulding. This is actually one of the the most earliest techniques known. The use of both hands enables a crafter to construct circles of clay, mixing smooth foundations of clay, or grabbing some mixture of these or strong balls of clay and moulding them together to form a base.
The potter’s wheel. In a procedure termed “tossing” a basketball of clay is positioned at the heart of a turntable, named the wheel-brain, which the potter revolves with a stick, with base strength or with a variable-speed electric generator.
The use of the potters wheel is the most popular clay making technique. The wheel revolves while the packed dense but delicate ball of clay is forced and pulled outwards and gently upwards in to a hollow appearance. The use of water allows the hand to glide ofer the clay without sticking or breaking the new mould.
